SERTÃO is an idea of an art collective with the ultimate goal of fostering, publishing, and promoting its artists, based in New York City and the metropolitan area. SERTÃO is targeted at artists with Hispanic/Brazilian backgrounds based in New York City and the metropolitan area, and/or artists that share such cultures and influences as part of their background, work, and/or point of interest.
One of the goals is to provide a space for their work, regardless of their language, and SERTÃO welcomes any media and artistic objects, such as literature, poetry, music, painting, comics, visual arts, dance, photography, sculpture, or any other kind of artistic manifestation.
For its first year, SERTÃO will promote events in New York City and Long Island, in addition to small art-community gatherings in a sarau format, where all the attendants will share their artistic, cultural, and life views through their works, in joyful gatherings.
